Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 July 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or subscribing to Plate Printer, you agree to these Terms of
Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. What Plate Printer is
Plate Printer is browser-based software that helps you design and print number plate
artwork to BS AU 145e legal spacing guidelines. We provide the software as a tool —
you remain responsible for how you use it (see Section 9).
3. Your account
- You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep your password secure.
- One account per email address — accounts are personal to the individual or business that registered them and shouldn't be shared or resold.
- You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
- Tell us immediately at ppuksupport@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Subscription, billing, and cancellation
- Plate Printer is billed as a recurring monthly subscription via Stripe at the price shown at checkout/month, charged automatically each billing cycle until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time via the "Billing" option in the app, which takes you to Stripe's billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- License keys purchased through other channels (e.g. eBay) grant a fixed 30-day period of access from the date of redemption and do not auto-renew — a new key (or a Stripe subscription) is required to continue after that.
Cooling-off / right to cancel note: Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations,
consumers normally have a 14-day right to cancel a digital service and receive a refund.
However, this right can be lost once the consumer has agreed to immediate access and
acknowledged they're waiving that right. Since this service grants instant access,
you should have your signup flow explicitly ask the customer to confirm they want
immediate access and understand they're giving up the 14-day cancellation right —
a solicitor can help you word this correctly and confirm whether your customers
count as "consumers" or "businesses" under the regulations (B2B customers have
fewer mandatory protections than individual consumers).
5. Refunds
Since Plate Printer grants instant access to the software, subscriptions are
non-refundable once a billing period has started. If you're charged in error, or a
payment fails to process correctly, contact ppuksupport@gmail.com and we'll
investigate. This doesn't affect any rights you have under UK consumer law that
can't be excluded by agreement.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose;
- Attempt to circumvent the subscription/license system (e.g. sharing license keys, reverse-engineering access controls);
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the service or other users' accounts;
- Use the service to create plate artwork for a vehicle registration you are not legally entitled to produce plates for.
Number plate supply — important. In the UK, supplying registration plates to
the public is a regulated activity: registered number plate suppliers (RNPS) must
verify a customer's entitlement to a registration (e.g. via V5C logbook or supporting
document) and keep records of every sale, per
DVLA requirements.
Plate Printer is a design/software tool for businesses — it does not itself grant any
regulatory status, and it is each subscriber's own responsibility to be a properly
registered number plate supplier (or to sell only to one) and to keep the legally
required purchaser records. You should state this explicitly to your subscribers and
consider requiring them to confirm their RNPS status (or equivalent) as part of
signup — a solicitor can advise on exactly how to word this and whether you need to
take further steps given your role in the supply chain.
7. Intellectual property
The Plate Printer software, design, and branding are owned by
Plate Plug UK Ltd. Your subscription grants you a
licence to use the software; it doesn't transfer ownership of any part of it. Content
you create using the tool (your own plate designs, dealer branding, logos) remains yours.
8. Service availability
We aim to keep the service available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted
access — the service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to
circumstances outside our control.
9. Liability
The software is provided to help produce BS AU 145e compliant spacing, but you remain
responsible for verifying the final artwork is legally compliant and for how you use it.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plate Plug UK Ltd
is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service.
Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so (e.g. for
death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, including for non-payment,
abuse of the service, or unlawful use. You may stop using the service and cancel your
subscription at any time.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after an
update means you accept the revised terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be
subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
